Rectocele Surgery
If your condition warrants, your doctor may recommend that you undergo rectocele surgery. This is an inpatient surgery that requires you stay in the hospital for several days.
During the operation, your surgeon will place supportive mesh between the rectum and the vagina while pushing the bulge away from the vagina. Following surgery you will be asked to avoid any strenuous activities, including standing for too long, having sex or lifting heavy objects. Recovery takes several weeks but once you heal you should be able to return to a full and active life.
If you are a candidate for rectocele surgery, your doctor at Celebration Colorectal will be happy to explain the procedure in greater detail and answer any questions you have. We want you to participate fully in your care so that you can make decisions that are right for you.
